General Assembly
September 18, 2024

General Assembly and Adobe have partnered up to help creatives and marketers learn cutting-edge skills for today’s workforce through their new Creative Skills Academy.

This isn’t any ordinary academy. It’s a mashup of top-tier tech training that only GA and Adobe can provide—giving learners the know-how to create and execute marketing and creative projects, build their portfolios, and stand out to employers.

Another reason why the Creative Skills Academy is so special? It’s FREE for qualifying applicants.

The Creative Skills Academy At-a-Glance

Curated by General Assembly in partnership with Adobe, the Creative Skills Academy gives you the cutting-edge creative skills you need to stand out as a designer or a marketer and propel your career forward.

  • If you’re accepted, it costs you nothing.
  • You pick 1 of 2 tracks that suits your career goals—Skills for Creatives or Skills for Marketers.
    • If you want to dive deep in the creative world, choose the 8-week Skills for Creatives track.
    • If you have a desire to build marketing strategies, choose the 10-week Skills for Marketers track.
  • Regardless of track, be prepared to commit 8–10 hours a week for the length of the training.
  • You need a laptop and wifi access.
  • You get free access to Adobe tools as part of your acceptance into the training.
  • The Creative Skills Academy isn’t available to U.S. residents in these states: Alabama, Connecticut, Kentucky, Nebraska, New York, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

What makes a great candidate for the Creative Skills Academy?

We assess applicants based on the following criteria:

  • Your age: If you’re 18–28, you’re a great fit.
  • Where you live: You need to live in the U.S.
  • Your income: You have to make $60,000 USD per year or less.
  • Your education level: If you have a high school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED) you’re a good candidate.
  • Your demographic profile: For this training, we’re focusing on those part of a community underrepresented in tech—low income, communities of color, LGBTQQIA+, formerly incarcerated individuals, women, Veterans, those with disabilities, and other nontraditional groups.
  • Your experience level: If you’re applying to the Skills for Creatives track, it’s best if you have 1 year of experience using Adobe tools so you can get the most out of this program.
  • Your time commitment: You have to be willing to commit 8–12 hours per week for 8–10 weeks (it’ll be worth it—we promise).
